2018 quarterback prospect/Wake Forest commit, Sam Hartman, completed 229 passes out of 348 attempts for 3733 yards, 45 touchdowns, and only 6 interceptions, while attending Davidson Day (NC) on last season. This fall he will be showcasing his skill set in the Lowcountry, in efforts to do more of the same at Oceanside Collegiate (McClellanville, SC). We recently chatted with Hartman to see how he’s been adjusting to life in the Lowcountry. We have this info inside for you, plus more!
Oceanside Collegiate will be taking the field for the first time this upcoming football season under the direction of, Chad Grier, who was announced as OCA’s first Head Football Coach earlier this year. Tagging along with Coach Grier for the ride will be quarterback, Sam Hartman, 2018 Wake Forest University commit. Hartman was generous enough to take time out for a quick Q&A. We hope to have more on the recent transfer in the near future!
SM: After suiting up with your previous high school program, Davidson Day, what factors helped you to decide to make the transfer to the Lowcountry for your senior season?
SH: Coach Chad was a big factor in my decision. He has help develop me as a QB and I wanted to keep developing under his wing.
SM: How much of an adjustment has it been for you, in reference to making the transfer from the state of North Carolina to the Lowcountry.
SH: It’s been pretty smooth. I love it down here and can’t wait to enjoy it more as the year rolls on.
SM: You made an early decision to commit to Wake Forest a little over a year ago, talk about some of the key points that led to your pledge with the Demon Deacons.
SH: I love the school. The academics are huge to me and can’t wait to take full advantage of that opportunity. I love the coaches and players that are there now. I can’t wait to enroll in January and get to work.
SM: What sets you a part from some of the other QBs in this year’s recruiting class.
SH: I love to work hard on any and everything. I just love the process.
SM: Lastly, what are some of your personal goals for the upcoming football season?
SH: Grow as a leader and make the team better.
